Who Should Attend Individuals who are shippers, packers, freight forwarders, security screeners, and all those who directly or indirectly affect the transportation of hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
Course Summary

This one day course is packed with information regarding the proper way to prepare and transport Lithium ION and Lithium Metal batteries.

If you ship Lithium batteries by air....whether it is packed in equipment, packed with equipment, or just the battery itself, YOU MUST BE TRAINED.

There are many changes in the 2010 IATA Regulations (51st Edition). If you have previously been trained in this area, you should seek additional training to ensure you are compliant with the changes that have just taken place on January 1, 2010.

Highlights

The training covers:

  • Overview of Lithium Batteries in Transportation
  • Proper use of the IATA Air Regulations
  • Proper use of the packing instructions for Lithium ION and Metal batteries
  • Understand the difference between a regulated and excepted lithium battery shipment
  • Understand differences between US DOT Regulations and the IATA Air Regulations
  • Correct marking and labeling procedures

A test will be given and the participant must achieve a passing grade of 80%. Upon satisfactory completion, the participant will receive a training certificate that will be valid for 2 years.
